About Me

My name is Tristan Spratt and I'm a 24 year old neuroengineering student from Paris, France. I came to the US to study at Tufts University, and graduated in 2021 with a B.S. in Cognitive and Brain Sciences, and a B.A. in Music, Sound and Culture. I then worked at Harvard Medical School's Laboratory of Neuroscience at the Boston VA Healthcare System for 2 years as a research assistant, and I am now a first-year Master's student at Columbia University studying computational neuroscience, brain-computer interfaces, and AI.

I am fascinated by the brain and consciousness. How does such an ordinary-looking organ paint such beautifully complex pictures of the world? How do our dreams, fears, and senses of self get stored in a box behind our eyes? Why do I suddenly remember who I am when I wake up, and where did I go when I was sleeping? Why haven't we found anything else in the universe with our level of consciousness? Will my landlord notice the dent I made in the living room wall? What are the coolest sounds to make? All these questions live in my brain rent free, but I am determined to answer them.

I am currently looking for a summer internship in the field of brain-computer interfaces to apply what I've learned in the classroom to real-life challenges and to keep exploring the mind's information processing circuitry.

Oh and I have other normal hobbies too like sports, music, traveling and eating food.
